One reason I focus on residential homes for my San Diego Window Cleaning company is because most residential homes are two stories and are not as high as most commercial buildings. I personally do not like to go above two stories when I clean windows on a ladder, although I have done an occasional three story. A majority of residential homes have a smaller square footage which means less walking. Many second story homes have first story rooflines that allow you to walk on them to get to the second story windows saving you time.
Since there are not a lot of people around you wont get to distracted and can focus on your job and get into a rhythm. You’ll have plenty of thinking time unless of course you are listening to Eddie Murphy on your iPod talking about the ice cream man. However when you are up on the ladder or a roofline you don’t want any distractions.
My San Diego Window Cleaning company focuses on residential customers as there are more types of windows which can be both good and bad depending on what type of windows you will enjoy cleaning. I personally do not like cleaning French pane, skylights or louvered windows. However I also charge more for these window types which makes me feel happy about cleaning them. Residential windows are also in several different sizes and always a lot smaller then commercial windows.
By now I hope you can see that residential window cleaning has many positive aspects that make for safer, easier and profitable window cleaning. Of course there are some challenges at residential homes such as plants, animals and children putting their hands on the windows you just cleaned or a dog slobbering on the window, although I prefer that over blocking customers at a store front or trying to clean around someone working at their overly large desk and cubical. There are also fewer people to worry about for liability in case there is some unforeseen accident.
In the end residential window cleaning has a lot more pros then cons, I honestly believe you will have the most opportunities and chances of success going with residential window cleaning. As your business grows you can always switch over to commercial or store front window cleaning if you are unsure which business model to pursue.
